The Aviation Safety Council （ASC） today convenes the fifteenth annual Accident Investigator Recorder （AIR） meeting at The Sherwood Taipei.

In the opening session of this 3-day event, ASC managing director Dr. Michael Guan first welcomes the 36 flight recorder specialists from 16 countries worldwide to participate the meeting.  As one of the founding members, ASC has never been absent from AIR meeting since it was first held by National Transportation Safety Board （NTSB, U.S.A.） in 2004; and ASC has the privileges to host the 5th and the 15th AIR meeting in conjunction of ASC’s 10th and 20th anniversaries.  Today, the AIR meeting has become a primary occasion where the flight recorder specialists are able to share their experience from investigative duties, discuss the developing trends of flight recording devices and regulations; moreover, junior investigators and agencies with newly established laboratories will be able to learn and inherit flight recorder analysis know-how from the worldwide specialists during the meeting.  Dr. Guan encourages all attendees to actively discuss and brainstorm during the meeting, in face of the technical challenges on the applications of emerging technology, such 3D LIDAR, UAV digital forensic tools, and aviation big data et cetera.  

During the 3-day event, all attended flight recorder specialists will share their experience and discuss concerning topics in flight recorder regulations, advanced flight recorder readout techniques, underwater recovery of wreckage and black box, conventional recording device readout, and advanced site survey techniques.
