The Preliminary Occurrence Report of Taiwan Sugar Corporation’s Train No. 118 at Huanhe Road Level Crossing

At 1337, on June 26, 2020, Train number 118 of Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) passed through the level crossing of Huanhe road in Changhua County and collided with a truck. The locomotive and the truck fell into the drainage ditch, and three passenger cars derailed. The train and the truck drivers were both slightly injured and all passengers were safe. There were no casualties in the accident.

While receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately launched an on-scene team and sent three investigators with the people of TSC heading to the scene performing evidence collections, conducting personnel interviews as well as collecting relevant information. The TTSB identified this event as a railway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
