First public hearing for the “Draft Aviation Occurrence Operations and Handling Regulations”
Aviation Safety Council (ASC) held the first public hearing for the “Draft Aviation Occurrence Operations and Handling Regulations” on Sept. 13. This Draft was drawn up in accordance to Article 36 of the Aviation Occurrence Investigation Act issued by President Chen, on June 2, 2004, the article states that: The ASC shall enact the operation and handling regulations and procedures governing the notification, occurrence identification, occurrence site handling, personnel interviews, investigation, and release of investigation report as mentioned by this Act.
The Draft also specifies cooperation by operators and authorities in an investigation process; evidence handling time for ASC; and implementation of penalties.
ASC is to hold a total of three public hearings; they are scheduled on Sept. 13, Sept. 29 and Oct 8. ASC board member, Dr. Michael Gau, is conducting the hearings. Operators, authorities, academics and professionals are invited.
