The China Airlines CI120 occurrence during landing at Naha airport

On August 20, 2007, at 09:36 Taipei local time, China Airlines Flight CI120, 737-800 aircraft, registration B-18616, landed on Naha Airport and caught fire. The aircraft endured substantial damage. Two pilots, 6 cabin attendants and 157 passengers on board were reported no injury (to be verified by ARAIC).

In according with Investigation law, Aviation Safety Council immediately contacted Japan investigation authority ARAIC and requested for participation in the investigation team. An accredited representative (AR) will be appointed upon receipt of the ARAIC’s invitation. A group of consultants led by ASC’s safety investigation Director was launched immediately including technical group of ASC’s recorders, flight operations, survival factors, and structures, and party members from CAA and operator.

The ASC specialist team will participate in ARAIC’s on-site investigation. According to ICAO Annex 13, Chapter 5, Article 26, no information shall be released unless authorized by the ARAIC.
