China Airlines Flight CI 680 Occurrence Initial Report

On August 12, 2012,China Airlines passengers Flight 680, an A330-300 registration B-18352 took off from Hong Kong International Airport for Taoyuan International Airport. After landing on Runway 23L at 15:24, the right main gear skid off the runway, which might cause damage to 2 runway edge lights. The aircraft was minor damaged and all people on board were safe.

At 1545, Aviation Safety Council was informed about the occurrence and immediately launched an on-scene team to the airport. Flight crew were interviewed; cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were removed from the aircraft for further investigation; ATC data were collected. The team also conducted runway inspection, measurements, aircraft inspection and initial evidence collection. ASC has determined the event is an aviation occurrence defined by the “Aviation Occurrence Act”. The investigation team will set up investigation working groups of Flight Operation, Maintenance, Air Traffic Services, Airport and Recorders.
