TransAsia Airways Flight GE 222 Occurrence Initial Report

On July 23, 2014, TransAsia Airways passenger flight GE 222, an ATR-72 airplane, registration number B-22810, took off from Kaohsiung International Airport at 1600 Taipei time for Magong Airport. Due to typhoon factors the flight delalyed takeoff at 1745. The aircraft crashed during approaching Magong airport. There were 2 flight crew members, 2 cabin crew members and 54 passengers on board.
The Aviation Safety Council (ASC) was informed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) and immediately launched the go team to Magong airport. The ASC identified the event an aviation occurrence according to the Aviation Occurrence Investigation Act, and with reference to ICAO Annex 13. To conduct the investigation, the ASC has launched the investigation team and assigned the Investigator-in-Charge. Parties to the investigation are the CAA, TransAsia Airways, BEA(Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses), ATR (Avions de Transport Régional),TSB(Transportation Safety Board, Canada), and P&WC (Pratt & Whitney Canada).
