V Air Flight ZV 252 Occurrence Initial Report

On May 6, 2016, V Air passenger flight ZV 252, an A321-200 aircraft, national registration number B-22610, took off from Taoyuan International Airport at 2226 Taipei local time for Haneda International Airport. Shortly after take-off, the flight crew members requested air turn-back due to cabin smoke. The smoke was resulted from burning-out of a non-genuine power bank which carried by a passenger. The aircraft returned Taoyuan International Airport and landed safely at 2321. On board passengers and crew members were all safe.

After receiving the notification, the Aviation Safety Council confirmed the event was an occurrence in accordance with the "Aviation Occurrence Investigation Act". The Investigator-In-Charge and an investigation team has been assigned to this investigation. The on-scene team finished site survey, personnel interviews, flight data recorders retrieval, security check procedures review and the power bank inspection.

The factual data related to the occurrence will be released after the factual data report is completed.
