China Airlines Flight CI 027 Occurrence Initial Report
On December 7, 2016, China Airlines passenger flight CI 027, a B737-800 aircraft, registration number B-18605, took off from Palau International Airport at 1811 Taipei local time for Taoyuan International Airport. During cruising, the smoke was found from a burn-out SAMSUNG S6 edge cell phone which carried by a passenger. The aircraft landed at Taoyuan International Airport safely at 2204. On board passengers and crew members were all safe.
After receiving the notification, Aviation Safety Council (ASC) sent the investigators for flight crew and cabin crew interviews, and removed the CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder), and FDR (Flight Data Recorder). The event is identified as an aviation occurrence according to Aviation Occurrence Investigation Act, and with reference to ICAO Annex 13. The Investigator-In-Charge and investigation team has been assigned to this investigation.
The factual data related to the occurrence will be released after the factual data report is completed.
