On February 5, 2018, the National Airborne Service Corp, Ministry of Interior, conducted an emergency medical service flight with an UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, registration number NA-706. The helicopter carried 1 patient, 1 family member of the patient, 2 flight crewmembers, 1 mechanic and 1 nurse, totally 6 persons on board.  At 2349, the helicopter took off from Lanyu Airport and lost contact with the control tower three minutes later.

After more than two months of underwater recovery operation, the main wreckage of the occurrence helicopter was recovered at about 1400 on April 12, and two human remain were found in the wreckage. The prosecutor and the coroner are confirming the identity of human remains.

The wreckage recovered is the middle section of the occurrence helicopter, which is approximately 25 x 12 x 12 feet in size. The investigation team will remove the Recorder and send it back to ASC laboratory for read out process.
