Initial Report of Far Eastern Air Transport Flight FE8026 Occurrence

On July 2, 2018 at 1905 hour Taipei local time, Far Eastern Air Transport passenger flight FE8026, an MD82 aircraft, national registration number B-28035, took off from Penghu Airport for Songsang Airport. The aircraft declared PAN PAN at 7 miles from the runway of Songshan Airport at an altitude of 2,800 feet due to the No. 1 engine failure. The aircraft then safely landed at Songsang Airport at 1907 hour, all on board personnel were safe.

Due to damage to the internal parts of the No. 1 engine and piercing the engine cowling, the Aviation Safety Council confirmed this event was an occurrence. The Investigator-In-Charge and an investigation team were assigned to this investigation. The on-scene team was launched to Songshan Airport to collect evidences. At present, engine inspection and flight crew interviews have been completed, and the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder have been retrieved.
