National Airborne Service Corps, Ministry of the Interior NA-106 Occurrence Initial Report
On December 5th, 2018, the National Airborne Service Corps (NASC), Ministry of Interior, an AS-365 helicopter, registration No. NA-106, took off from Taipei Songshan Airport at 1653 local time to carry out a sea emergency medical hoist up rescue mission, with 5 crewmembers on board. At about 1750 local time, after patient hoisted, the rescue staff was found unconscious after hoisted back to the helicopter. Both the patient and the rescue staff were sent to hospital for immediate medical treatment after returning to Songshan Airport.
After receiving the notification, the Aviation Safety Council (ASC) sent an investigator to NASC Songshan base to conduct personnel interviews and collecting relevant information on the occurrence. In accordance with the Aviation Occurrence Investigation Act, the ASC identified this event was an aviation occurrence. The Investigator-In-Charge and investigation team were assigned to proceed the occurrence investigation.
