Train number 118 Tze-Chiang Limited Express of Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), MOTC, departing from Chaozhou to Qidu, derailed following a collision between the trespassing forklift on Xinxing Lane level crossing, on west line between Shetou and Yuanlin, around 12:12 p.m. December 31^st, 2019.

Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) identified that this event was a railway accident, in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act, after receiving occurrence notification from TRA.  Immediately, the Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and the investigation team was launched to conduct preliminary site investigation.
