National Airborne Service Corps, Ministry of the Interior NA-103 Occurrence Initial Report

On April 7th, 2020, the National Airborne Service Corps (NASC), Ministry of Interior, an AS365 helicopter, registration No. NA-103, during performed the second route training at Kaohsiung Airport at 1531. The controller found smoking from the helicopter and immediately press the alarm bell and notify the fire bridge, after the helicopter fell on the runway. All five crewmembers on board were all safe.  

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board(TTSB) immediately launched an on-scene team and sent 8 investigators heading to Kaohsiung Airport. The on-scene team performed evidence collections, to conduct personnel interviews and collecting relevant information on the occurrence. In accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act, the TTSB identified this event was an aviation occurrence. The Investigator-In-Charge and investigation team were assigned to proceed the occurrence investigation.
