At 7:37 on May 27, 2020, the light rail T05 of Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) smoked at Cianjhen Star Station.  The driver reported to the operation control center (OCC) that there was a burning smell on the train and he had made an emergency evacuation.  When the train T05 continued to Kaisyuan Rueitian Station, the driver reported the fire had been extinguished and shut the vehicle down.  There were no fatalities or injuries in the occurrence.

While receiving the notification at 7:47 am, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately launched an on-scene team and sent three investigators with the people of Railway Bureau, MOTC and Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government heading to the scene performing evidence collections, conducting personnel interviews as well as collecting relevant information.  The TTSB identified this event as a railway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act.  The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.

Further information and progress of investigation will be published on TTSB website.
