On July15, 2020 at around 0005 AM, an accident occurred in the Taichung Port Area, a taxi of Long Ma Cheng Motors Co., Ltd. fell into the sea. There were 5 people in the car, of which one passenger escaped by himself and asked the Taichung Port's officer to call 119 for help, while the remaining 3 passengers and the taxi driver died. A total of 4 persons died in this highway occurrence.

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately dispatched 5 investigators to the scene performing evidence collections, conducting personnel interviews as well as collecting relevant information. The TTSB identified that this event was a highway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
