On January 7, 2021, an ultra-light vehicle, type AeroJones CTLSi, control number AJ-2199, departed from Runway 26 of Jiehao activity field in Gaoshu Township, Pingtung County at about 1420L to perform orientation flying. There were one operator and one occupant aboard. About ten minutes after takeoff, the ground personnel were unable to contact the vehicle personnel via radio and mobile phones. The search and rescue unit reported that the wreckage of the vehicle was found in the mountainous area near of Sandimen Township at about 2230L that day, and the two persons on board sustained fatal injuries.

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately launched an on-scene team heading to the scene. The on-scene team performed wreckage inspections, site surveys and related evidence collections.
