The Preliminary Occurrence Report of TRA’s Train No.126 at Zhongli Station

At 18:09 on April 11, 2021, Train No.126, Express Train of Taiwan Railways Administration, MOTC (TRA), departed from Dounan station of Yuanlin County to Qidu station of Keelung City, was on fire underneath car 3 when entering Zhongli Station of Taoyuan City. The station staff extinguished the fire with extinguishers and then cut off the power supply at 18:36. The local firefighters arrived and sprayed water to the bottom of the car. Train service was restored at 19:22. There were no fatalities or injuries in this occurrence.

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately dispatched one investigator with the people of Railway Bureau, MOTC and TRA heading for the scene and performing evidence and relevant information collections. The TTSB identified that this event was a railway occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
