The Initial report of China Airlines Flight CI5240 Aviation Occurrence

On January 28, 2022, China Airlines flight CI5240, a Boeing B747-400 freighter, registration number B-18715, with 2 flight crew members on board, took off from Anchorage International Airport in the United States to Chicago International Airport. The aircraft landed at Chicago International Airport at about 0510 local time (UTC-6), taxied to the RR taxiway and waited for the parking stand at 0520, and began to taxi to the apron about 40 minutes later. During taxi, the aircraft departed from taxiway S2 at about 0603 and struck containers on the apron, the no. 1 and no. 2 engines and landing gear were damaged. No injuries to the persons on board.

 

After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) identified that this event is an aviation occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
