On March 23, 2023, at 09:35 A.M., a commercial freight tractor operated by Miao Feng Transportation Co., Ltd., carrying a methanol tanker, crashed into the left guardrail and overturned at 111.2 km on the northbound lane of Provincial Highway No. 61, resulting in methanol leakage and exposure fire. The driver died in this occurrence.

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) received the notification at 10:17 A.M. on the same day and immediately dispatched a go-team to the scene to perform vehicle inspection and collect relevant information. The TTSB identified that this event was a highway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and continued to collect relevant evidence and arranged follow-up inspections.
