On October 24, 2023, at 13:42 P.M., a commercial motor carrier operated by Shih Fu Transportation Ltd. collided with a passenger vehicle at the end of a traffic queue, and bumped against another 15 vehicles at northbound 118 km of Provincial Highway No. 9. One vehicle occupant died and 11 passengers sustained injuries in this occurrence.

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) received the notification at 14:55 P.M. on the same day and identified that this event was a major highway occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and immediately dispatched a Go Team of 6 investigators to the scene to perform a vehicle inspection and collect relevant information.
