The Initial Press Release of the Derailment of TRC’s Train No. 125 and Equipment Damage at Qidu Station
On January 3, 2025, a Tze-Chiang Express Train, No. 125 of Taiwan Railways Corporation (TRC) operated from the Qidu Rolling Stock Branch and headed toward Qidu Station. At 12:02, the rear locomotive of the train derailed and continued traveling until it stopped on the track at platform 3 of Qidu Station, causing damage to the train body, wheels, pantographs, overhead catenary system, tracks, and turnout. There were no casualties in this occurrence.
After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) dispatched 3 investigators accompanied with the staff of Railway Bureau, MOTC and TRC heading to the scene to collect evidence and relevant information. The TTSB identified this event as a railway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
