At approximately 1830 hours on June 7, 2025, the Taiwan-flagged general cargo vessel “XIN FENG”(Gross Tonnage 518) made contact with underwater rocks near Beifeng Pier in Wuqiu Township, Kinmen County, while entering port to berth. The contact caused flooding in the engine room, and the vessel subsequently grounded along the Wuqiu shoreline.

All eight persons on board, including the master, were safely rescued and brought ashore by an inflatable boat deployed by the Wuqiu Garrison Battalion. No casualties or environmental pollution resulted from the occurrence.

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) classified the event as a major marine occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and with reference to the Casualty Investigation Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Further information and progress of the investigation for the case will be published on the TTSB website.
