Bulk Carrier An Hai Confidence Made Contact with Wharf during Departure at the Port of Taichung
At approximately 1928 hours on 16 March 2026, the Tuvalu-flagged bulk carrier An Hai Confidence (IMO No. 9469833, gross tonnage 24150, length overall 189.99 m, beam 28.50 m) made contact with Wharf No. 13 during departure operations at the Port of Taichung. The occurrence resulted in damage to the vessel’s bow and the wharf facilities. No injuries or environmental pollution were reported.
Upon receiving notification of the occurrence, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) dispatched investigators to conduct a preliminary investigation and collect relevant information. In accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act, and with reference to the Casualty Investigation Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the TTSB has classified this occurrence as a major marine occurrence. An Investigator-in-Charge has been appointed and a dedicated investigation team has been established to conduct the safety investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
