Initial Press Release on the Collision Between Cars 6 and 7 of a TRC Puyuma Trainset During Shunting at Shulin Yard.
At 09:35 on 6 August 2026, a diesel-electric locomotive R102 at Shulin Yard of Taiwan Railway Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TRC), coupled to Cars 7 and 8 of a Puyuma trainset, was pushing the cars into Track W10 to couple with Cars 1 through 6 of the same trainset stabled on that track. During the shunting movement, Cars 6 and 7 collided, resulting in damage to the couplers and the mounting brackets for the main-reservoir pipes on both cars. There were no casualties in this occurrence.
After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) dispatched 4 investigators to TRC to collect evidence and relevant information. The TTSB identified this event as a railway occurrence following the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
