What are the major aviation occurrences investigated by the ASC over the years?

The major occurrences investigated or joined investigation by the ASC over the years are summarized as follows:

1. China Airlines CI642 flight crashed at Hong Kong International Airport during landing

On August 22, 1999, a China Airlines Boeing MD-11 aircraft, from CKS International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport, encountered windshear and crashed during landing. The aircraft's right landing gear broke, veered off runway and flipped over beside the taxiway. There were three fatalities and 50 minor/serious injuries.

The investigation was conducted by Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, ASC acted as Accredited Representative to join the investigation.

2. Singapore Airlines SQ006 flight crashed on the closed runway at CKS airport during takeoff

        On October 31, 2000, Singapore Airlines flight SQ006, a Boeing 747-400 aircraft, from CKS International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, crashed on the partially closed runway during takeoff. There were 83 fatalities, 39 seriously injured and 32 minor injured.

3. China Airlines CI611 flight in-flight breakup over the Taiwan Strait northeast of Makung, Penghu Islands, Taiwan

        On May 25, 2002, China Airlines flight CI611, a Boeing 747-200, B-18255, en route from CKS International Airport to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport, crashed into the Taiwan Strait approximately 23 nautical miles northeast of Makung, Penghu Islands of Taiwan. There were 225 fatalities including 206 passengers and 19 crewmembers.

4. TransAsia Airways GE791 flight in-flight icing encountered and crashed into the sea 12 nautical miles southeast of Makung, Penghu Islands, Taiwan

        On December 21, 2002, TransAsia Airways flight GE791, an ATR-72-200, B-22708, encountered a severe icing during en-route from the CKS International Airport to Macau International Airport and crashed into the sea 12 nautical miles southeast of Makung City, Penghu Islands, Taiwan. The two flight crewmembers on board were missing.

5. China Airlines CI120 flight fire after landing at Naha Airport, Japan

        On August 20, 2007, China Airlines flight CI120, a Boeing 7373-800, B-18616, took form Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to the Naha International Airport of Japan. Immediately after parking at the remote gate, fuel was leaking from the fuel tank and right wing caught fire. The aircraft was destroyed by the fire, but fortunately none of the passengers and the crew was seriously injured.

The investigation was conducted by Japan Transportation Safety Board, ASC act as Accredited Representative to join the investigation.

6. TransAsia Airways GE222 flight crashed 750 meters off the end of runway 20 at Makung Airport, Penghu Islands, Taiwan

        On July 23, 2014, TransAsia Airways flight GE222, an ATR-72-200, B-22810, took off from Kaohsiung International Airport to Penghu Magong Airport, crashed 750 meters off the end of runway 20 at Magong airport. There were 48 fatalities and 10 seriously injured of passenger and flight crewmembers on board, 5 people on ground injured.
