A Shih Fu Dump Truck Rear-Ended on a Traffic Queue in Xinao Tunnel of Provincial Highway No. 9
Description
On October 24, 2023, at 13:41 P.M., a commercial motor carrier operated by Shih Fu Transportation Ltd. collided with a passenger vehicle at the end of a traffic queue, and bumped against another 14 vehicles at northbound 118 km of Provincial Highway No. 9. One vehicle occupant died and 12 others sustained injuries in this occurrence.
Stage
The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) received the notification at 14:55 P.M. on the same day and identified that this event was a major highway occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned and immediately dispatched a Go Team of 6 investigators to the scene to perform a vehicle inspection and collect relevant information.
