A Metropolitan Electric Bus Fire on Northbound Dunhua North Road in Songshan District of Taipei City
Description
At approximately 20:43 on June 16, 2025, an electric bus operated by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, serving Route 262 and carrying one driver and approximately seven passengers, caught fire near the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital bus stop on northbound Dunhua North Road in Songshan District, Taipei City. The fire led to complete destruction of the vehicle. But the driver and all passengers were evacuated in time. There were no casualties in this occurrence.
Stage
After receiving the notification, the Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) immediately dispatched 3 investigators to the field to gather information in accordance with the procedures for investigating major highway occurrences. This event was identified as a major highway occurrence in accordance with the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and the Scope of Major Transportation Occurrence by the TTSB. An official investigation has been launched and the investigation team will continue to gather relevant evidence.
