Description

An EVA Airway’s MD-11 aircraft,B-16101 flight BR316 on November 20, 2001 on a scheduled passenger transport service to CKS International Airport, Taoyuan, Taiwan. There were 207 passengers, 10 cabin crew, and 3 flight crew on board. The first officer was the handling pilot for the flight.The departure and en route segments of the flight were uneventful. At about 1648 local time, the aircraft experienced a hard landing on initial touchdown on Runway 06 at CKS Airport, the pilot-in-command took control immediately after aircraft bounced and performed “GO AROUND”. The aircraft landed on Runway 06 on the second attempt.After landing, the aircraft was found left tire of nose landing gear failed, damage occurred to the nose landing gear wheel well area i.e.STA.595 bulkhead wrinkle and broken around L/H 42L to 44L, R/H 43R to 44R damages in several areas.
