UNI Air Flight B7901 Bursted Tire During Rotating on RWY 06 of TaoYuan Intl. Airport.

Description

On April 15th, 2008, at 0844 Taipei Local Time, the flight B7901, Reg. No. B-17913, performed scheduled flight from TaoYuan Intl. Airport to KaoHsiung Intl. Airport. During the aircraft was rotating on RWY 06, the pilots heard the abnormal sound from the gear door. After the landing gears has been retracted, the gear lights panel indicated that the no.2 LDG was in red.


When B7901 arrived at KaoHsiung, pilots executed two times low approach, allowing the tower and ground staff to visually confirm the damage conditions. About 0954, the aircraft landed at 6,110 ft from RWY 09 threshold. Two pilots, one observer, 4 cabin crew, and 36 passengers on board were no injury.


The aircraft damage includes- LH/RH gear doors and gear hub severely damaged, 3 tires bursted (no.1/3/4), and left gear door actuator crooked. Between 5,000 ft and 6,000 ft on the RWY 06 of RCTP, there are two ground scars in white color, and two tire marks in black color.


The Aviation Safety Council (Taiwan) is conducting the investigation. The CAA Taiwan and UNI AIR are invited to participate the investigation team.
