At 1614 local time, September 14, 2008, Cathay Pacific Airways flight CX521, an A330-300 aircraft with two pilots and 72 passengers took off at NRT airport, Japan, destination Tao-Yuan international airport, Taiwan. A/C dispatch with bleed Eng 1 secured closed and ops procedures per MEL. During initial descent at fl380, at 1856 local time flight crew observed ECAM air & bleed abnormal message and followed by eng 2 bleed faults. Cabin pressure reduced and oxygen masks down. Flight crew followed ECAM & QRH initiated emergency descent, called mayday and descend to FL140. ATC provided priority approach to RWY 24 and landed at Tao-Yuan International Airport at 1929 with no person injury. The Aviation Safety Council (ASC) is conducting the investigation. Representatives from the Taiwan CAA, CAD HKG, BEA and AI are supporting the investigation. The investigation is organized into the following groups: Flight Operations, Maintenance Records, Recorders, and survival factors.
