Description

"At 0944 hours, on December 6th, 2019, a SIERRA LEONE- flagged general cargo ship “KING MIDAS”, with a gross tonnage of 4991, IMO registration number 8879055, foundering in the waters of a sandbar about 2.8 nautical miles away from Sanfeng Village, Dacheng Township, Changhua County. There was no obvious damage to the hull, ten of crew members on board were safe, no oil pollution in this occurrence.
At 1400 hours, on December 13, 2019, a Togo- flagged oil tanker “CHAN FONG”, with a gross tonnage of 4173, IMO registration number 7350260, foundering at 0.3 nautical miles northeast of KING MIDAS while preparing to tow and rescue “KING MIDAS”. Part of the hull of “CHAN FONG” was damaged, seven of crew members on board were safe, no oil pollution in this occurrence."
