Description
On October 12, 2023, at 10:44 A.M., a commercial freight tractor operated by Chang Hong Transportation Co., Ltd., carrying a sodium hypochlorite tanker trailer, overturned on Provincial Highways No.2 eastbound toward Yilan at the 102.2 km, resulting in a sodium hypochlorite spill. The driver suffered a fatal injury in this occurrence.
Stage
The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) received the notification at 12:38 P.M. on the same day and immediately dispatched an On-Scene team to the scene to perform a vehicle inspection and collect relevant information. The TTSB identified that this event was a major highway occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act. The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned, and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
