Description

November 30, 2023, at 21:38, a passenger car rear-ended a truck-mounted attenuator (TMA) at Daya section at 176.4 kilometers northbound of National Highway No. 1. This occurrence caused the damage to the front of the passenger car and the attenuator of the TMA. There was no injury in this occurrence.

Stage

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) received the notification and dispatched an On-Scene team to the scene to perform a vehicle inspection and collect relevant information. Considering a lot of accidents of passenger cars equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) rear-ended the TMA recently, the TTSB identified that this event was a major highway occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and the Scope of Major Transportation Occurrence Paragraph 4, Subsection 3, and continued to collect relevant evidence and conduct follow-up investigations.
